Thank you Mr. President, Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to thank my colleagues Mario Mauro - EPP, John Attard - Montalto - S&D, Hannu Takkula of Liberals and of course for Nirj Deva from the European conservatives and reformists, who together with me initiated and submitted the declaration for "Chess in School".
This shows that good ideas have no political boundaries and prejudices.
I would like to thank as well to the President Buzek, who also supported the implementation of this initiative and who gave his patronage. Allow me to thank the administration of the Parliament and to our teams, who have worked tirelessly, and to all who signed the declaration. Those who also deserve gratitude are my colleagues Jacek Wlosowich, Peter Borys, and Milan Zver.
Because this is a good thing. No, this is more than just good, because what is good for our children, it is good for our future.
Here, on the stand, is also the President of the European Chess Union, to whom I would like to thank as well.
