30/09/2007 Le Pen gave a helping hand to Slavi Binev in Sofia The Frenchman: Do not be afraid of the patriots, they are not fascists.

The leader of the French National Front Jean – Marie le Pen said that the candidate of Ataka for a mayor of Sofia Slavi Binev is a great sportsman who has courage, devotion and virtues. Binev has many manly virtues which come together with the smile and benevolence and this will make him a good mayor of Sofia, Thinks Le Pen. The French nationalist arrived here for the opening of the pre-election campaign of Ataka. Le Pen appealed to people not to be afraid of nationalism. He added that patriots love the people and their country and nobody should be afraid of them. In Europe there is power which is in the hands of our opponents who gave us the reputation of fascists but we are not fascists, said Le Pen. The French politician explained that Ataka stands up for the same principles in Bulgaria as the National Front in France. He outlined that people like him and Ataka fight against those who have united in order to weaken Europe. According to him Europe is threatened by the globalization and this is why they are trying to protect the nation.
The leader of the National Front who has been a candidate-president of France several times regrets that he was not elected for a president at the last elections. However he added that 4 000 000 people stood against him. According to him, the current president Nicola Sarcozi has started talking as the National Front. "He made one step and stopped", noted Le Pen.
He defined Sarcozi as “illusionist” referring to his behaviour with respect to the membership of Turkey in the European Union. According to Jean-Marie Le Pen Turkey is not an European country although it is respected and has long history. “We would like Sarcozi to play a fair game, and with respect to Turkey he does not do that” he commented. The French nationalist also declared that he does not agree the USA to dictate the policy of Europe. The candidate-mayor of Ataka Slavi Binev commented that the chains of the new slavery - suggestion, must be unchained. He believes the real people are not those who are obsessed by their own image, but those who let their deeds talk for themselves. This is why he outlined as his major priority the unveiling of the myths. He thinks that the mayor of Sofia must concentrate on the suburbs where the people live, not on the centre of Sofia, on the “yellow paving stones”. If he is elected a mayor Slavi Binev would create a parallel city, organized in a new way which could take the problems of Sofia. According to Binev the mayor is not able to cope with the problems of Sofia if at the same time he is engaged in the formation of a party. The leader of Ataka, Volen Siderov, explained that the local elections would prepare the party for the next parliamentary elections, where Ataka would achieve much better results than in 2005. The battle for Sofia will be serious and real, not a proforma, he commented. "Ataka for Bulgaria" and "Complete change of Sofia" are the slogans of the pre-election campaign of Ataka for the local elections.
