On December 3, 2008 President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering met with the Bulgarian euro deputy Slavi Binev and speakers invited by him to the seminar "Cultural diversity in Europe: The role of the political, religious and civil society leaders”. The attendants had the opportunity to exchange friendly lines and to take a picture to remember. The meeting again became a matter of Christian values, which should be basic for the EU.

The Bulgarian Euro deputy Slavi Binev, His Eminence Metropolitan of Vidin Dometian and archimandrite Haralampi, participated yesterday in the annual meeting of the Intergroup of the European Parliament - Ecumenical Prayer breakfast in Brussels. They were the only officials representatives, not only from Bulgaria but from all the Orthodoxy at the meeting, which was dedicated to the World Day of the Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast.
