The purpose of the proposed regulation is to defined procedures for authentication of euro coins and processing of unusable euro coins.
This proposal aims at ensuring effective implementation in the euro area of common procedures for the authentication of euro coins in circulation and control mechanisms for these procedures by the authorities.

The objective of this proposed Regulation is to lay down procedures regarding the authentication of euro coins and the handling of euro coins unfit for circulation.
